Khao Niew Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice)

ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง

About this dish

Khao Niew Mamuang, or mango sticky rice, is Thailand's most famous dessert and a highlight of the hot-season mango harvest. Glutinous rice is steamed and folded with sweetened, salted coconut milk, then served alongside slices of ripe, fragrant nam dok mai mango. A final drizzle of thick coconut cream and a sprinkle of toasted mung beans add richness and crunch. The contrast of warm, creamy rice with cool, sweet mango is simple perfection, best enjoyed when mangoes are in season from March to May.
